Privacy Policy

We don't require an account, we don't track your browsing, and we don't sell or share your data. All matching between the products you view and the recall database happens locally on your device. The only personal information we collect is an email address, and only if you choose to sign up for our emails.

Using the extension requires no account and no personal information. We never ask for your name or payment details to use the extension, and we don't maintain user profiles or shopping histories.

The one exception is our optional email sign-up, described below. Nothing is collected unless you enter an email address and submit it.

When you view a children's product, the extension compares details on the page — such as the product name, brand, or model — against a recall dataset sourced from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). This comparison runs entirely within your browser. The pages you visit are not sent to our servers.

You can sign up for our emails in the extension tabs. If you do, we collect your email address and nothing else — not your browsing history, not the products you viewed.

How it travels. Your address is sent over an encrypted connection to a server we operate on Cloudflare Workers, which passes it to our email provider, beehiiv, who stores the list and sends the emails. They process it on our behalf under their own privacy policies. That server briefly sees your IP address to limit how often sign-ups can be submitted and stop abuse; it isn't kept with your subscription or passed to beehiiv.

Confirming. We use double opt-in: you'll get an email asking you to confirm, and you aren't added to the list until you do.

What we send. New CPSC children's-product recall alerts, safety updates, and occasional product picks and deals. Some links are affiliate links, meaning we may earn a commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. We disclose this in the emails that contain them.

What we never do. We do not use what you browse, search for, or see flagged in the extension to decide what to send you or to target advertising. That information never leaves your device.

Unsubscribing and your choices. Every email has an unsubscribe link. You can also email hello@kidsrecallextension.com to unsubscribe, to ask what we hold about you, or to have it deleted. We keep your address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.

The extension may store a copy of the recall dataset and your preferences locally so it can work quickly and offline. This data stays on your device and can be cleared at any time by removing the extension.

If you sign up for emails or dismiss the sign-up prompt, the extension also stores a date so it knows not to ask again. Your email address is not stored in the extension.

Kids' Recall requests only the permissions it needs to do its job:

• Access to supported shopping sites (currently Amazon): so the extension can read the product details on the pages you view and check them against recall data. It runs only on supported retail sites.
• Local storage: so it can keep a copy of the recall dataset and your preferences on your device for fast, offline checks.

Recall information originates from the CPSC. Kids' Recall is an independent tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the CPSC, Amazon, or any product manufacturer. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics trackers inside the extension.

If you sign up for emails, Cloudflare and beehiiv handle your email address so we can deliver those emails, and only for that purpose.

The use of information received from the extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Specifically: we do not sell your data; we do not transfer or use it for advertising or any personalized-ads purpose; and we do not use it to determine creditworthiness or for lending. Because matching runs locally on your device, no one reviews the pages you visit. We use the limited information the extension accesses solely to check products against recall data — the extension's single purpose.

Email addresses given through the optional sign-up are used only to send the emails you asked for, and are never combined with anything the extension sees on the pages you visit.

Kids' Recall is a tool for adults shopping for children's products. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us an email address, contact us and we'll delete it.

If we update this policy, we'll revise the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the extension after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
